This theme explores social structures, cultural practices, identity formation, and everyday lived experiences. It examines how traditions, norms, values, and social change shape collective life. The focus includes cultural diversity, social cohesion, and the interplay between societal institutions and individual behaviour in contemporary contexts.
Health and Well-being
Our research examines physical, mental, and social well-being, focusing on public health systems, health behaviours, and inequalities in access and outcomes. It addresses emerging health challenges, determinants of health, and community-based strategies to promote inclusive and sustainable health improvements across diverse populations.
Education, Employment, Livelihood and Development
This theme aims to understand educational access, quality, and equity; skills and employability; and livelihood opportunities across regions. It links human capital formation to broader development processes, exploring policy interventions, labour markets, and socio- economic transformations that influence sustainable and inclusive development.
Family Welfare, Labour and Migration
In this theme, we study family systems, caregiving, labour relations, and population mobility. It explores how migration, employment conditions, and social policies affect family well- being, gender roles, and economic security. It also examines vulnerabilities and adaptive strategies among migrant and labour-intensive households.
Media and Communication
Our research focuses on the role of traditional and digital media in shaping public opinion, knowledge production, and social change. It examines communication practices, media literacy, information dissemination, and the impact of technology on democracy, culture, and everyday interactions.
State, Civil Society, Citizenship
This theme studies governance, public institutions, and citizen engagement. It examines the relationship between the state and civil society, political participation, rights, accountability, and democratic processes. It also explores how policies and power structures shape citizenship and collective action.
Violence and Peace
This theme analyses the causes, forms, and consequences of violence—structural, interpersonal, and collective. It explores conflict resolution, peacebuilding, justice mechanisms, and social resilience. The focus includes understanding vulnerabilities, promoting non-violence, and strengthening institutional and community capacities for peaceful coexistence.
Environment and Climate Change
This theme focuses on ecological sustainability, environmental degradation, and the impacts of climate change. It examines human–environment interactions, adaptation and mitigation strategies, and policy responses. It highlights community resilience, resource management, and pathways toward sustainable development under changing climatic conditions.
Gender, Minorities and Other Vulnerable Groups
This theme explores inequalities, discrimination, and social exclusion faced by women, sexual minorities, children, elderly populations, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups. It examines rights, empowerment, policy frameworks, and inclusive practices that promote equity, dignity, and social justice.
