A comprehensive task of collecting, preserving and disseminating information on socio-political, economic and human rights was initiated based on clearly spelt policies of the institute.

Electronic documentation as well as files of newspaper clippings for the last 10 years is readily available with the department. In addition to its primary role of collecting documents and information on major topics of social, economic and political realms, it also applies itself to other activities of disseminating the current information to human rights activists, social action groups and individuals. This documentation is also available in the institute’s website under each year of various subjects.

Human Rights News Bulletin

Human rights electronic news bulletin is a medium through which the collected information is disseminated to thousands of people all over the world. It promotes and preserves human rights, especially of the discriminated and marginalized in society. It is also a source of quick information dissemination electronically transmitted to thousands of people throughout the world. On a regular basis, it provides information on thematic issues of human rights violations along with the regular current information package. The face page of the bulletin with links to ISI website is emailed twice a week to about 5,000 subscribers around the world. It has also brought out a monthly publication of HR News in printed form. It is a summarized form of date-wise information of major topics of the month. It helps as a reference material to researchers, social activists and individuals for their reports and action-oriented field work. Several human rights groups and thinkers both in India and abroad have admitted that the information received have enormous significance in their campaign against HR violations. These efforts have been a part of the movement on the promotion of human rights both nationally and internationally. Data and information are also made available to those who request through email or in person. It has developed a mailing list of more than 5,000 email addresses and the mailing list is being maintained and updated on a daily routine basis.
