The FIDEL ROSL GOETZ Library at the Indian Social Institute (ISI) premise has been an important resource centre since the fifties, though it got the name in 1976 after a German philanthropist, who took interest in the library and had helped it generously.

Perspective & Objectives

The enormous growth in the information society has made the world a global village and there is an apparent death of distance. The convergence of computing and communicating has also brought a radical change in the way libraries and information centres have been imparting information to the users. There is a paradigm shift from information-based services to knowledge-based services. Knowledge is considered as the most powerful fact in the development of the economy of a nation and is the fourth wave experienced by human lives.

Libraries & Documentation Centres are the central support service of any organization, which provides dynamic support for achieving the goals and vision of services to the stakeholders. In this context the Department of Library & Documentation believes that a new and just society can be established when the marginalized are empowered to craft their lives and secure their dignity. The library is meant to support the NGOs who are working for it.
