Position: Finance Officer

Location: New Delhi

Reporting to: Fr. Shiju Mathew, SJ

Role: The Finance officer will be responsible the financial and accounting operations of ISI, New Delhi including overall financial monitoring, support and guidance to ensure financial well-being. S/he will prepare annual budgets, review and prepare required financial reports to funding agencies/ organizations to ensure compliance with the donor's requirements. S/he will be responsible for implementing financial policies, systems and processes, tax and regulatory requirements and controls, based on sound financial practices, the principles of transparency, accountability.

Duties and Key responsibilities:

  1. To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Finance Division, while maintaining ISI’s high standards of Financial Management
  2. Maintaining day to day accounts of the organisation
  3. Maintain all accounting related documents like records for cash, receipts and payments and balance sheet.
  4. Ensure the timely updating of accounting records.
  5. Ensure timely payment to vendors
  6. Preparing salary statement and ensuring disbursement through cheque, online or e-transfer etc.
  7. Preparing and participating in Audits
  8. Maintain an inventory of all the payments of the institute and make necessary arrangements for their maintenance and up keep for smooth annual audit.
  9. Preparing Bank Reconciliation Statements on a monthly basis.
  10. Prepare revenue forecasts and financial roll-ups for monthly account reviews.
  11. Oversee all financial operations & ensure timely and accurate financial reports and practices including cash management, payroll, financial disbursement, ledgers etc.
  12. Preparation and consolidation of Annual Budgets, develop financial reports.
  13. Review and develop financial policies, systems and procedures.
  14. Ensuring full compliance by the organisation with FCRA, IT Act, PF Act and other applicable statutory provisions of the country.
  15. Provide financial inputs for project management, human resource management and administration.
  16. Ensure statutory compliance, tax deductions (TDS), Challans, filing of returns etc
  17. Managing bank accounts and overseeing all money transfers.
  18. Collating, preparing and interpreting reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries and financial statements
  19. Controlling income, cash flow and expenditure.
  20. Handling accounts and finance, planning, budgeting and forecasting; provide analytical support to the Management as necessary
  21. GST and its implementation
  22. Review and submit timely and accurate Statutory Financial Statements in compliance with Accounting standards
  23. Liaison with Income Tax Department, civic authorities and regulating bodies etc
  24. Prepare and maintain pre authorise  payments
  25. Report to management regarding Finance of the organisation.
  26. Any other responsibilities as assigned from time to time

Qualification, experience & person specification:

Post Graduate in Commerce /MBA in Finance from a reputed institution, with minimum 3 years of relevant experience in non-profit sector.

Or

Graduate in Commerce or Business Administration from a reputed institution, with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in non-profit sector.

  • Professional knowledge and hands on experience in TALLY ERP 9 is must.
  • Demonstrated expertise in MS Office especially MS word and MS Excel for financial analysis and financial reports.
  • Well versed in the financial/accounting systems
  • Sound knowledge of accounting practices and statutory guidelines with hands-on experience with audits, income tax provision and other applicable laws and statutes.
  • Exposure to Auditing, Closing of Books of Account and Financial Accounts and Balance Sheet preparation
  • Demonstrated ability to set up processes for book keeping of operational transactions, reconciliation, MIS as per requirements
  • Strong analytical and financial orientation
  • Ability to multi-task and perform under deadline
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and summarize information to identify trends and risks
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Communication both oral and written in English & Hindi

Salary: Rs. 40,000/- per month (Non-negotiable)
